FAQ's

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis (or trance) is a naturally occurring state and one, which every one of us dip in and out of on a regular basis. People often claim to have been deeply involved in a good book or totally fascinated by a conversation with a friend. It’s this state of focus that allows the therapist to tap into the unconscious and create new templates of behaviour. The state is often likened to daydreaming.

Will I lose control?

No. You remain in complete control and can come out of trance whenever you wish.

Will I reveal anything I don’t want to in hypnosis?

No. As a solution focused therapist I will be working on the goals set out by you prior to hypnosis. You only have to discuss things that you are comfortable with and are relevant to therapy.

What happens in a regular session?

A regular session will be split into two halves.

The first part of the session will be solution focused. We will work closely with gaining clarity in future goals and what has prevented them occurring so far. We will then discuss practical ways of moving forward that suit you.

In the second part will be go about reinforcing the changes using advanced hypnosis. This is so that the new behaviour can become comfortable and instinctive to you.

People find they often get great results in just one or two sessions and never more than five.

Is it confidential?

Yes confidentiality is very important to me. Information may only be disclosed if required by law, or in the unlikely event that not disclosing it could endanger someone else.

I am bound by the General Hypnotherapy Register code of ethics.
